Restoration of Bridge 70

Steve wears numerous hats and is heavily involved as a volunteer in many restoration groups, including Caldon & Uttoxeter Canal Trust who successfully bid for funds to restore and protect the last remaining bridge on the disused Uttoxeter Canal.

This has been a huge project that involved working with a number of statutory and community organisations and private companies. Steve's strategic thinking, negotiation skills and volunteer management skills were put to good use.

Long Distance Walking Routes

Phase 1 - On with the hiking boots to check the route details and add points of interest and historical information. Camera in hand!

For a famous route, Destination Staffordshire were aware that The Staffordshire Way long distance route and information was in need of an update!

Phase 2 - Redesign the walks into sections with a view to creating a booklet and publishing on line.

Community Consultation

When asked what people feel about AONB status it is inevitable that members of the community have very different levels of understanding about how it might affect them. Not everyone really knows the details of what is involved. So when we were asked to run community consultation events across a Midlands region considering applying for AONB status, we focussed on teasing out how people feel about the effects and issues that could be managed by a different level of control and/or protection.

Intranet for partnership working

The Churnet Valley Living Landscape website was delivered with both public facing and private partner areas. The latter is where progress reports are submitted for easier collation and submission to HLF. Here also is a repository for document templates and other reference materials to facilitate co-branding and partnership working.

In its public facing role, the site enables members of the local community to manage their own subscriptions to the newsletter, which goes out to local subscribers every month.
